Welcome to Safe Haven Counseling, LLC. My name is Allison Krauss Randall and I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 25 years of experience providing counseling services to women, men and children who have experienced trauma, loss and stress in their relationships and lives. I am trauma informed and trained as well as trained over 200 therapist nationally regarding the impact of trauma on our attachments and relationships.
I know both personally and professionally how important healthy, meaningful relationships are to our overall wellbeing. I also know the profound impact when our most important relationships are full of stress, hurt, betrayal, and trauma. I have extensive knowledge on the impact of trauma when we desire loving, supportive connections. I want to create a "safe haven" where individuals can feel a sense of calm in the storms of their traumatic relationships, to explore, process and heal the broken pieces of our hearts when our connections hurt rather than support.
My philosophy is to approach each person as an individual with his or her own ability/willingness/readiness to work through the issues at hand. I believe our thought process can be our own worst enemy at times and I work to assist the client to be more aware of the pitfalls of these negatively charged thoughts. I combine a range of therapeutic approaches based on your distinct needs of the client. I provide counseling services for those looking to reduce and manage anxiety and depression, develop affirmative overall functioning, and obtain assistance in confronting life trials.
I have worked with ages 5-99, in school settings, residential and out-patient settings as well as detention settings. As a School Counselor for the past 20 years, I have worked with students and parents to navigate through a myriad of familial, relational and school related issues.
I’m a trauma-informed therapist, EMDR-certified, and currently deepening my work as a CSAT (Certified Sex Addiction Therapist) candidate. I specialize in helping people navigate the impact of trauma — especially relational trauma — and the ways it can echo through our lives, our relationships, and our sense of self.
I hold a Master’s degree from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College and have a professional background in addiction recovery and community mental health. Whether it’s longstanding attachment wounds, toxic relationship cycles, or the weight of developmental or systemic trauma, I offer a grounded, compassionate space to do the deep work. My practice is rooted in anti-racist and LGBTQIA+ allied values — because healing requires safety, dignity, and belonging.
Above all, I’m passionate about helping people reconnect with themselves — to understand how past pain has shaped them, and to build a more present, joyful, and authentic life from that understanding. If that sounds like something you're ready for, I’d be honored to support you on the path.
There are many benefits to therapy whether you are looking to process your day to day stressors or identifying patterns and ways of thinking that have been keeping you from moving forward. I work with adults that are experiencing Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, and Trauma. I also help clients who are struggling with life transitions, relationship issues, people pleasing, and setting boundaries.
